In the spirit of holiday parties, New Year’s Eve, Wedding, Birthday and everything-else-in-between season, I wanted to do a red lipstick post, especially given that I have 50 shades of red in my collection (Ok, not quite, but getting there)!
Read on to see 3 different Shiseido lipsticks with different undertones, but similar in effect of being strikingly bright!
Shiseido Rouge Rouge in RD 501 Ruby Copper | CA$35
Rouge Rouge line of lipsticks has “16 beautiful red shades for every mood”. The colours actually range from pinks to reds to browns.
- Shiseido Rouge Rouge is a creamy matte finish lipstick
- It’s easy to wear, and non drying – the formula contains hyaluronic acid for moisturized lips
- Gorgeous black magnetic case type of packaging
RD 501 Ruby Copper shade is a warm type of red. It brings out the warmth of my skintone a lot more prominently, and makes me look bright! The most stand-out thing about Rouge Rouge is the comfortable formula. It is a creamy matte – not drying in the least bit!
Shiseido Rouge Rouge in RD 620 Curious Cassis | CA$35
This one is another shade of the Rouge Rouge collection. It’s more on the darker spectrum of reds, and has a brown-red tinge to it.
On my medium deep skin colour, this is actually a good dark “nude” more than a red!
I struggle to find nude lipcolours for myself, and this red based brown does not wash me out, is not too brown, and not too red. A lovely smokey red!
Shiseido Perfect Rouge in RD 514 | CA$35
Shiseido Reds in the Perfect Rouge Collection are described as “Intense Colour, Full Lips”.
- These shades are a creamy finish, and extremely comfortable and long wearing
- The wear is amazing – long lasting with minimal transfer
- The opacity of the red is quite intense
- The packaging is black again, and shuts well, but is not magnetic
I have the shade RD 514 which is a deep and cool-toned red. I think this is really flattering on my warm tone skin colour despite it being a cool toned red.
I usually prefer cool tones reds to offset the golden yellow undertone of my skin, and this one is my perfect creamy red!
Here are all the 3 shades swatched side by side:
Price point wise, these lipsticks are on the expensive spectrum, but not luxury pricing. The formula, and packaging are wonderful to use. Although these tubes are pricey, I can say that you will enjoy wearing them!

So, those are the 3 reds in my Shiseido arsenal. This is the first time I have tried lip swatches, so let me know if you liked it or found it useful!
